The Villa Les Bruyères is located at the extreme Western corner of the
PORT DE MONACO in Place Saint Devote - which is to the far-right { out of camera shot }.

the Honorary Con sul for €ire ( the Republic of South Ireland ). The steps to the right of the building , No. 1 , ( the ESC. DE LA COSTA ) lead off
from the AVENUE D'OSTENDE and form the base of a stairway leading to the rear-entrance of the SMURFIT Villa and upwards to the overhead
roadway ( the BRETELLE AUREGLIA - which divides the back garden of the building ) , and on upwards again , to the AVENUE de la COSTa. { The break in the image is due to film - namely , the premature end of the roll... }

                  Historical Note
   The hub of social activity was the circle of Arthur , Duke of Con naught
   (1850-1942), youngest son of Queen Victoria, who had visited the area with his
   mother and during his brother's reign, but who, after the death of his wife, chose to
   spend his winters near Beaulieu. He bought the Villa Les Bruyères on
   Cap Ferrat , and came there every year between 1920-1939, during which time
   he was a regular worshipper at St. Michael's.^F
   He always arrived by train from London in time for the 11 November, where,
   after the Anglican service, he took part in the Armistice Day procession, in which
   the English colony joined with native inhabitants of Beaulieu in an act of
   commemoration at the War Memorial.
